Nitrox Diver Specialty.
Why You Need Nitrox
Nitrox is becoming more and more common in diving every year to the point where most other divers on your boat may already be diving it. If this is the case you don’t want to be left behind. Nitrox will extend your bottom times dramatically and can potentially increase the safety factor of your dives. This is the #1 course I would recommend all divers take as soon as possible and can be linked with you Open Water Course.
What is It?
Nitrox is a blend of NITRogen and OXygen which is a different ratio than that of air (21% oxygen). The primary difference is what ratios of each we use. After taking this course you will be able to use a blend with up to 40% Oxygen in it. The advantages of Nitrox are that it is cheap, easy to learn, relatively safe if you are trained and can dramatically increase your bottom times during no stop diving and is a prerequisite for technical diving if you plan to go that route. Take for example a dive to 100 feet which is the maximum you can dive after an advanced open water course. On air you’re limited to 20 minutes on the bottom. While on 32% nitrox, a common and inexpensive blend, you can spend 30 minutes, which offers you 50% more time. That’s why this course offers you the best bang for your buck.
