Dodge Chrome
Specialty: printing on various mediums
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Date: September 16th, 2026
Objective summary: We were given a tour by one of the owners of Dodge Chrome, Ann Dominiski. She gave us an overview of the company and its projects over the years. They create prints for individual artists on various mediums ranging from paper to metal and glass and work with clients as large as museums or large art installations and anyone in between. The company was created by a merger of two companies Dodge Color and Chrome printing in the 80’s and has been operating with the name ever since. During the tour we saw a wide range of products and services they provide. They are able to print on just about any medium that you have heard of something printed on and at large sizes. They are also able to do scanning and archival services for things such as family photo collections but their scanners are able to scan larger items and at very high resolution. They also had quite a few employees working in many capacities which included something like 11 Towson students at some point.
Subjective Observations: While I find Dodge Chrome to be a really cool business which is photo adjacent, it is definitely not photo. I do think that it’s an excellent opportunity for a young person looking for work though. We can't all be pro photographers or artists in the end and this is a home for some of those people. It’s not glamorous, but it pays the bills and the people seem nice. Pro’s of Dodge Chrome are that it’s hiring, and it is a real job. It’s also a place where you can learn a lot about printing and that process which can help you with your own art and prints down the line. Cons: It’s not really a photography job, and it’s not that close to Towson.
